The Los Angeles City Council on September 20 confirmed the appointment of Lucia Moreno-Linares to a five-year term on the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners. Nominated by Mayor Eric Garcetti, she replaces Patricia Castellanos on the five-member board. John Bilich is the new chief security officer at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. He had been acting chief security officer since December 2016.
The Northwest Seaports Alliance reports container throughput at its Seattle and Tacoma marine terminals increased 6.3 percent in August and 5.4 percent year-to-date from the respective 2016 levels. PhilaPort handled 667,069 metric tons of cargo in August, its highest ever monthly total. It was a record month, as well, for the port’s container and forest product trades.

HAROPA, alliance of the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris, serves a hinterland centered in the Seine Valley and the Paris region, the biggest French consumer market area.
