The Grimaldi Group’s Grande Baltimora roll on/roll off vessel was officially named on October 31, during a ceremony at the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore’s Fairfield Marine Terminal. American Honda Motor Company nearly tripled its business through the Port of Brunswick in Fiscal Year 2017. Bridger Steel Inc., a premier metal manufacturer of panel systems for roofing, siding and interior applications, has signed a lease with the Port of Kalama for 30,000 square feet of office and warehouse space and another 10,000-square-foot covered area for loading trucks. North Carolina Ports is excited to begin a new partnership with Crowley Maritime Corporation to provide weekly, fixed-day shipping and logistics services between the Port of Wilmington, Guatemala and Honduras.
 
Oregon International Port of Coos Bay works in concert with the Oregon State Marine Board(OSMB) and other stakeholders throughout the state in an effort to develop preventative strategies to address derelict vessels. The governing boards of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach unanimously approved the 2017 Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP) Update, ushering in a new era of aggressive clean air strategies for moving cargo through the nation’s busiest container port complex.
 
The Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor will receive one of the nation’s 10 FASTLANE small project grants for 2017. The port’s grant is part of a $19.7 million expansion of the infrastructure that will increase cargo handling capacity and multimodal capabilities. Recently the Quonset Development Corporation (QDC) embarked on a new initiative, designed to help current and future manufacturing tenants grow their businesses, when QDC broke ground on the first building in its new flex industrial campus.
 
Broward County's Port Everglades topped its previous record for containerized cargo volumes with 1,076,893 TEUs (the industry standard container measurement of 20-foot equivalent units) moving through the port in Fiscal Year 2017, which ended September 30, 2017. Container trade at the Port of Savannah grew by 32 percent in October, with Garden City Terminal moving 410,000 twenty-foot equivalent container units, an increase of nearly 100,000 TEUs.
 
 
   
City and Port of Oakland officials are meeting with neighbors to hear concerns about big rig traffic on streets in West Oakland. About 3,000 trucks daily transport containers in Oakland. A group of Port of Tacoma employees and family members recently volunteered at the Emergency Food Network warehouse in Lakewood to repack 4,275 pounds of rolled oats for distribution to food banks around Pierce County. 
 
Port of Oakland Commissioners have selected Daria Edgerly as their first African American, and woman, as secretary of the board.
