Pure car carrier Höegh Sydney on December 21 made the first direct delivery to  Port Canaveral of autos imported from Asia – more than 800 cars destined for Central Florida dealerships. The December 20 sailing of M/V Beatrix –.the last oceangoing vessel to leave the Twin Ports this year – signaled the beginning of the end of the 2017 commercial shipping season in the Port of Duluth-Superior and across the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway system. 

The largest China COSCO Shipping vessel to ever come to North America visited the Port of Long Beach a few weeks ago. The first breakbulk shipment of Chilean winter fruit to arrive in the United States for the 2017-18 season sailed into Delaware’s Port of Wilmington December 18 aboard the M/V Green Italia. 
 
 
   
The boards of directors of Alabama State Port Authority (ASPA) and APM Terminals in separate actions have approved a $49.5 million expansion that will boost throughput capacity of Mobile Container Terminal to 650,000 TEUs annually.

Moody’s Investors Service has revised the Port of Palm Beach’s rating outlook to positive from stable and affirmed the port district’s Baa3 rating.

Kelley, Jr., took the helm January 1 as executive director and CEO the Port of Port Arthur.  Manatee County Commissioner Vanessa Baugh has been elected to a second consecutive one-year term as chairwoman of the Manatee County Port Authority, the governing board of Port Manatee. The Port of Seattle Commission has selected retired U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Stephen P. Metruck to be the port’s next executive director. Port of Tacoma commissioners on December 21 selected Don Meyer as commission president for 2018.
