The Port of Savannah handled more than 4 million twenty-foot equivalent container units in 2017 - an increase of 11 percent and the port's highest annual volume ever. The Port of Sept-Îles saw a nearly 6% increase in the volume handled in the port with 24,231,000 tons handled in 2017 versus 22,942,000 tons the previous year.

Port of Portland and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have reached a preliminary agreement allowing the Port to continue cleanup at its marine Terminal 4. The Port of San Diego is entering into an agreement with Zephyr Debris Removal LLC for a one-year pilot project to demonstrate a system to remove marine debris from San Diego Bay.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has cleared the Port of Savannah to serve as a new entry port for Chilean blueberries. Blueberries from Chile are now handled in a controlled environment by PortFresh Logistics, located seven miles from Interstate 95 and 15 miles from GPA’s Garden City Terminal.
