The Port of Corpus Christi’s Ship Channel Improvement Project (CIP) was included in the FY 19 Presidential Budget for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Coastal Navigation Construction that was released by the White House. JAXPORT partner North Florida Warehouse FTZ, celebrated the grand opening of Foreign Trade Zone No. 64’s first outdoor storage facility. The Port of New York and New Jersey awarded $23.7 million to Cross Harbor Partners to undertake the Tier II Environmental Impact Statement for the Cross Harbor Freight Program. The Port of Tacoma approved a 30-year lease last week with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) to develop an auto processing facility on the former Kaiser Aluminum site.
 
The Ports of Indiana handled 11.8 million tons in 2017, resulting in a 5 percent increase from 2016 and the second-highest annual shipment total in the organization's 57-year history. The Port of Los Angeles handled 808,728 TEUs in January 2018, the second-busiest January in the port’s history. The Port of Oakland reported that containerized export volume in January increased 2.1 percent from the same month a year ago.
 
The Florida Ports Council announced that Jessie Werner has been named Vice President of Public Affairs, responsible for all facets of communications and marketing for the Council. Port Freeport Director of Operations, Al Durel, and Brazos Pilots Association President, Captain Billy Burns, were honored by the U.S. Coast Guard for their service during the events of Hurricane Harvey. Port of Vancouver USA CEO Julianna Marler is being recognized for exceptional leadership with a 2018 Clark College Iris Award.
 
 
   
The largest container vessel to ever call at PhilaPort arrived at the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal. Port Tampa Bay’s newest tenant, Port Logistics Refrigerated Services (PLRS), which operates a new state-of-the-art cold storage facility, received its first shipment of perishable products.
 
 
   
The Port of Indiana Burns Harbor welcomed Big Hope 1, a bright pink barge owned by Ceres Barge Line. Big Hope 1 has generated more than $861,000 in donations to Mary Crowley Cancer Research since its launch in 2012.
