The 16th World Conference Cities and Ports will be a unique opportunity to meet in North America the most influential figures from port cities around the globe, with some 450 delegates from more than 50 different countries expected in Quebec. Dialogue between port and city is essential for promoting economic development in the surrounding territory. Involving citizens in decision-making has become indispensable. The Port of Hueneme welcomes new leadership as the Board of Harbor Commissioners named officers for the 2018 year. The Port of Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has named Darrin Lambrigger as the Harbor Department's new Director of Construction Management. AAPA Sustaining Member Dewberry, announced that Heather Wood has been hired as the business development director for the firm’s ports and intermodal division in the southeast and mid-Atlantic regions.
 
The Port of Los Angeles processed 725,059 TEUs in February, the busiest February in the port’s 111-year history. Port of Oakland containerized import volume increased 14.9 percent last month. After exporting more than 87,000 Ford vehicles in 2017, the Port of Portland continues to be the leader on the U.S. West Coast for auto exports.
 
The Port of Baltimore received a top rating of  'excellent’ on a security assessment from the U.S. Coast Guard for 2017. Port Houston and Port of Texas City were both recipients of the 2018 Rear Admiral Richard E. Bennis Award for Excellence in Maritime Security.
 
 
   
With a $72,500 contribution from the Port of Prince Rupert’s Community Investment Fund, and $25,000 from DP World Prince Rupert, Northern Health was able to match the funding required to purchase a new Phillips Epiq Diagnostic Ultrasound Machine in early 2018. The Port of San Francisco and the Montezuma Wetlands Restoration Project is returning farmland to its original wetland state.
 
The Québec Port Authority has signed partnership agreements with Port Brussels, North Sea Port and Port of Zeebrugge.
