The Port of Duluth-Superior will celebrate National Maritime Day on May 22. Port Houston hosted more than 400 people attending the third annual JOC Gulf Shipping Conference. The Port of New Orleans is celebrating its second annual Maritime Month through May and National Maritime Day on May 22 to pay tribute to the region’s rich maritime history and to recognize the hardworking men and women who serve in the industry.

The Port of Galveston announced strong results for the month of March 2018. Total vessel calls for the month increased approximately 63 percent compared to March 2017 and improved to 33 percent year-to-date over last year. Port of Oakland reported record volume of 2.42 million 20-foot cargo containers for 2017. The Trois-Rivières Port Authority accommodated 168 vessels, including 12 cruise ships, and handled 2.6 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in 2017.

The Port of Coos Bay has completed an analysis of the failure of the swing span bridge and is finalizing a construction plan to get the bridge back in working order. The Great Lakes Seaway Partnership is excited that improving the deteriorating Soo Locks is a priority of President Trump's. 

The Norwegian Sun sailed out of Port Canaveral on its inaugural voyage to Havana, Cuba. JAXPORT and Carnival Cruise Line have reached an agreement to extend Carnival cruise service from Jacksonville through at least May 2021 and potentially through 2027. Massport has announced several new itineraries out of Boston throughout the 2018 cruise season.
