Port Canaveral has initiated a new visitor education program aimed at protecting wild dolphins swimming in waters surrounding the port.  The Port of Long Beach has approved a proposal by Toyota Logistics Services to redevelop its facility at Pier B and build a renewable energy fuel-cell power plant and hydrogen fueling station. The Port of Oakland has given $70,000 to a local non-profit to prepare local workers for careers in the environmental construction trades. The Port of San Diego and the San Diego Port Tenants Association are hosting their annual event to spruce up San Diego Bay and its shoreline.

Port Milwaukee’s maritime cargo and vessel activity had a significant positive effect on the city and the region’s economy in 2017, a recently completed study has concluded. The study, commissioned by the marine shipping industry in partnership with U.S. and Canadian government agencies, concluded that Port Milwaukee sustained more than 1,300 local jobs and generated over $100 million in business revenue last year. The Trois-Rivières Port Authority has hired the firm Cible Recherche to conduct a survey among the population of Trois-Rivières.

The Port of Los Angeles processed 833,568 TEUs last month, the busiest July in the Port’s 111-year history. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority today released the 2018 mid-year statistics for goods moving through the Port of Vancouver. Overall cargo through the port increased 4.4% to 72.1 million metric tons over the same time last year to reach record mid-year volumes. The Port of Virginia processed a record-setting 252,679 TEUs in July, an increase of nearly 8% when compared with the same month last year, and the second most productive month in the port’s history.

The Port of Grays Harbor will grow its rail service industrial waterfront with the acquisition of the former WSDOT Pontoon Casting Basin. Port Manatee and Carver Maritime LLC have entered a long-term marine terminal operating agreement for a 10-acre aggregate offloading facility at the Florida Gulf Coast port.
