Bright Light Systems completed Phase 1 of the transition to high-mast LED lighting along with the Bright Light Management System software for Port Freeport. The Port of Long Beach has received preliminary approval for a $50 million grant from the California Air Resources Board for a sweeping, transformative demonstration of a near-zero and zero-emissions supply chain at the nation’s second-busiest seaport. The Port of San Diego submitted winning entries in three of the four categories in AAPA’s 2018 Environmental Improvement Awards program – Stakeholder Education, Awareness and Involvement; Environmental Enhancement and Mitigation.

The Canaveral Port Authority has been awarded a total of $1.149 million in federal and state grants for port security operations and cybersecurity systems. The Port of Oakland has been awarded $1.35 million by FEMA to strengthen maritime security.

The Port of Corpus Christi has appointed Omar Garcia as its chief external affairs officer. Garcia most recently served as the CEO of the South Texas Energy & Economic Roundtable (STEER), an oil and gas association tasked with facilitating further investment in the Eagle Ford region while promoting the benefits to the region. PortMiami Director and CEO Juan Kuryla was elected chairman of the Florida Ports Council.
