The impact of any disruption in the goods movement industry can be huge, and a skilled, well-trained workforce to fill the diverse occupations in the port industry helps to prevent those disruptions. AAPA plans to explore these issues at its upcoming Workforce Development Summit, June 25-27 at Long Beach City College in Southern California. Come hear from educators, human resource professionals, colleges, universities and ports about the efforts taking place to address the changing workforce. According to a study by the EDR Group in association with Tioga Group, Inc., trade, construction in the Harbor District and other business activity related to moving cargo through the Port of Long Beach supports one in five jobs in the city alone.
 
Georgia Ports and Governor Brian P. Kemp have announced that Plastic Express, a leader in the plastic resins industry, will expand operations with two new manufacturing facilities creating 166 new jobs and investing more than $172 million at the Port Logistics Center in Pooler.
