Congratulations to all of the ports that submitted winning entries into the 2019 AAPA Communications Awards Program competition! The recipients of the 2019 Overall Award of Communications Excellence trophies - the top awards in AAPA's Communications Awards Program – go to Port Milwaukee (Category 1), Port of New Orleans (Category 2), and Port of San Diego (Category 3). The three categories are based on the size of the port's public relations, advertising and marketing budget. See all of the winning entries here.

Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor welcomed general cargo vessel HC Melina carrying a unique shipment of two large rubber-tire gantry cranes destined for the CSX Intermodal Terminals’ facility in Chicago for the first time. The Port of Sept-Îles has confirmed that two levels of Canadian government will participate in equal measure to modernize the Pointe-aux-Basques Terminal, for a total investment of more than $13.3 million, or two-thirds of the estimated total cost of $20 million.

More than 135 shipping lines at the Port of Long Beach were lauded for voluntarily participating in the port’s Green Flag Incentive Program, which offers financial incentives for cargo vessels to slow down near the port to reduce air pollution. Port of Oakland’s major tenant project showed big air quality gains from a three-month-old emissions reduction program. SSA’s Oakland International Container Terminal said its $6 million conversion to hybrid yard cranes would cut greenhouse gas emissions 96 percent.
