The Port of Long Beach knows the importance of doing what it can to protect the supply chain workers who continue to move the nation’s cargo during the COVID-19 pandemic. After learning about Alhambra-based trucker Rafael Saavedra’s difficulty finding a protective mask, the Tenant Services team took action to give him a box of 500 face coverings for personal use and to distribute to other truckers.
 
 
   
The Port of Hamilton is one of the largest ports in Ontario, the busiest Canadian port on the Great Lakes, and is visited by over 650 vessels each year. To help keep Hamilton’s waterways safe, Crime Stoppers of Hamilton, HOPA Ports’ Harbour Masters Office/Port Patrol team, and the Hamilton Police Marine Unit are forming a new partnership with the debut of Crime Stoppers “On the Water.” The transformation of one of Southern California’s most iconic, over-the-water restaurant complexes is complete. This week, the Port of San Diego and The Brigantine, Inc. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of The Brigantine’s Portside Pier at 1360 North Harbor Drive overlooking San Diego Bay along the North Embarcadero.

The Belledune Port Authority has worked to become the top biomass exporter in Eastern Canada since beginning to export wood pellets over a decade ago. As BPA focuses on clean environmentally friendly projects, there is also a commitment to partner with organizations that have similar values. The Port of Tacoma’s Upper Clear Creek Mitigation Bank, designed to offset adverse impacts to salmon and wetland habitat from development, has received final approval from the state Department of Ecology, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Marine Fisheries Service.
 
 
   
S&P Global Ratings has affirmed Halifax Port Authority’s investment-grade credit rating of ‘A+’. The report states, “We consider HPA’s service area economic fundamentals as extremely strong, given the crucial role that the port plays in national trade.”
 
 
   
The Port of Tacoma is bidding farewell to four of its older cranes that have reached the end of their useful life and are too small to serve the modern container vessels. Since 1989, these workhorses have moved containers, filled with import goods like shoes, toys and furniture, as well as valuable exports like apples, potatoes and hay.

AAPA was awarded a $5.89 million grant and is among 28 U.S. entities to receive money to administer nearly $100 million over a four-year period through the “Apprenticeship: Closing the Skills Gap: US DOL Apprenticeship Grants.”
 
 
   
The Port of Vancouver USA welcomes the USNS Brittin for approximately 90 days while the ship undergoes annual maintenance and inspections required by the American Bureau of Shipping and the U.S. Coast Guard. The ship and its civilian crew will be docked at the port’s terminals 13 and 14. At 951 feet in length, it will offer an impressive sight to river users and those able to view it from the Oregon side of the Columbia River.
 
 
   
The Port of Corpus Christi is proud to recognize Buckeye Partners L.P. for achieving a historic milestone in its South Texas Gateway (STG) Terminal project – loading the first vessel with crude oil sourced from the Permian Basin for export to overseas markets. The Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor marked the 50th Anniversary of its Grand Opening on July 17, the beginning of an organization that connects America’s heartland to the world and provides a stimulus to the state’s economy.
 
 
   
The Port of Montreal container terminal project in Contrecoeur is progressing at a fast pace. The MPA with the participation of the Canada Infrastructure Bank held two information sessions in view of the call for qualifications for the construction of the future terminal which will be launched in the coming weeks. The Port of New Orleans, Water Institute of the Gulf, and Louisiana Economic Development announced a smart port initiative that will streamline operations and improve safety through real-time data shared by port administrators, tenants, shippers, and warehouse, cargo and ground transportation providers.
