Broward County’s Port Everglades Chief Executive and Port Director Jonathan Daniels has appointed Ricardo D. Charlton, BSME, FSO, as the new director of operations. The port’s Operations Division coordinates more than 8,000 vessel and 3.9 million cruise and ferry passenger movements annually. Port Freeport has named Jessica Effenberger Follett as public affairs manager, responsible for managing community and local government relations. Leaders of an international shipping conference have named Port Milwaukee’s port director, Adam Tindall-Schlicht, as an AntwerpXL 40 Under 40 honoree. The award showcases rising stars, under the age of 40, in an important sector of marine commerce.
The Port of Virginia’s continual investment in new equipment is helping to build one of the youngest chassis fleets in the nation, with the average age of chassis in the port’s pool being 3.5 years old. “As newer, safer chassis go out onto the road, we’re reducing risk for our partners, customers and the driving public,” said John F. Reinhart, CEO and executive director of the Virginia Port Authority.

Through the regional spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic downturn, the Port of Corpus Christi remains committed to its community and therefore will not alter plans to open its biannual call for sponsorship applications from Coastal Bend nonprofit organizations. Nonprofits seeking funding for events that occur between January 1 and June 30, 2021 may submit applications to the port until October 31.

Texas-based energy company Max Midstream announced the acquisition of the Seahawk Pipeline and Terminal from Oaktree Capital at the Port of Calhoun with plans for a historic pipeline that will connect the port directly to both Eagle Ford and Permian Basins to transport up to 20 million barrels a month to a revitalized terminal at the port. Exports will begin with completion of the first phase in late 2020, and the second phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2023.
