The Montréal Port Authority (MPA) has announced the appointment of Martin Imbleau to be the new president and CEO. In senior management positions for some 15 years and having developed extensive experience in strategy, operations, business development and managing major infrastructure projects, he will succeed Sylvie Vachon. Vachon is retiring on December 31 after a 30-year career at the MPA, including 11 years as CEO. Imbleau will begin his new position on January 1, 2021.

The state-owned, public marine terminals of the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore continue to show significant gains in October cargo volume compared to lows during the COVID-19 emergency. The Port of Duluth reported the final inbound wind energy cargo vessel of 2020, the BBC Swift, discharged wind turbine blades at Duluth’s Clure Public Marine Terminal last week, capping a record-setting season at North America’s furthest inland seaport.

The Port of Long Beach is accepting proposals for tree plantings and other landscaping projects that will help mitigate port-related air quality and noise impacts. Eligible projects would be funded under the Facility Improvements portion of the Community Grants Program. Proposals must be submitted online by 4:00 p.m. (Pacific) Monday, Jan. 18.

The Panama Canal marks a promise fulfilled: the waterway has prioritized its team’s health with no traffic interruptions, and it now sees transits nearing pre-pandemic levels. In early April, Panama Canal Administrator Ricaurte Vásquez Morales pledged to keep the waterway safe and open throughout the pandemic. “There will be light at the end of the tunnel, and we plan to be ready to support our customers when that day comes,” the Administrator wrote in May. Today, the Panama Canal remains committed to accommodating the world’s economic recovery swiftly, and with all the necessary safety measures still in place.

Port Milwaukee is entering into a lease agreement with Pearl Seas Cruises to give the company priority docking rights for its cruise ships at Pier Wisconsin, the downtown dock immediately east of Discovery World museum. The Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the agreement at its recent meeting.

Port Fourchon is contributing funds to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) to procure a dredge contract to improve navigation through Belle Pass due to siltation. This work is being performed by Crosby Dredging, under the direction of the Corps. The port is providing the majority of the funding to perform the job that is typically done through the Corps’ Operations and Maintenance Budget for Belle Pass, as the Corps is responsible for this federally authorized channel.

The Port of Vancouver USA Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the port’s 2021 operating budget during a recent board meeting. The $54.1 million budget was developed to meet the goals of the strategic plan, including strengthening the port’s financial sustainability, addressing the long-term use of taxes and implementing a comprehensive maintenance plan.

Port Tampa Bay is soliciting requests for qualifications (RFQ) from respondents interested in providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) engineering consultant services to the port in accordance with the Florida Consultants’ Competitive Negotiation Act (CCNA) for a continuing contract on an as-needed basis.
