With the COVID-19 pandemic bringing financial hardship to people across New Brunswick this year, the Port of Belledune doubled down on its mission to give back to its communities. This year the port has donated $37,000 to food banks in the Acadian Peninsula, Chaleur Region and Restigouche Region. Port Windsor has donated $2500 to The Salvation Army‘s Annual Red Kettle Campaign. The funds have been re-purposed from the usual year-end festivities and recognitions to prioritize support of its community.

The Port of Harlingen welcomed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Southwestern Division Commander Brig. Gen. Christopher G. Beck, Galveston District Commander Col. Timothy R. Vail and other Corps officials on a visit as part of an outreach initiative to improve communication and project management between the Corps and ports.

The Port of Corpus Christi Authority Commission approved a lease agreement and related pipeline easement for the Bluewater Texas Terminals, LLC (BWTX) offshore deepwater port project — a 50/50 joint venture between Texas-based Phillips 66 and Trafigura Group Pte. Ltd. This agreement facilitates BWTX’s plans to provide safe and environmentally friendly infrastructure for the increasing exports of responsibly produced U.S. crude oil to the global demand markets that prefer U.S. energy.

This holiday season AAPA joins the Heroes at Sea 2020 organization in praising seafarers for their dedication working onboard ships, sometimes for months on end during the pandemic, to deliver the goods we rely on. A Heroes at Sea Tribute Concert was held for seafarers around the world.

As AAPA bids a fond farewell to senior staff members Ed O'Connell and Aaron Ellis who announced their retirement plans, AAPA is pleased to welcome new staff Paula Gonzalez, Senior Manager of Membership Recruitment, who began December 7. Jen Wilk, Public Relations Director, will join the AAPA team January 11.

Towering new cranes are coming to the Port of Oakland to handle the massive ships calling the seaport. These new cranes will be the tallest ever at Oakland, and rank among the largest in the United States.

The Port of Beaumont and ExxonMobil marked the safe arrival of equipment for a refinery upgrade project at ExxonMobil’s Beaumont Refinery. Last month, Red Box Energy Services AUDAX vessel, which is more than two football fields long, arrived at the port carrying six large furnaces for the project.

The Port of New Orleans is set to begin the due diligence process for a potential $1.5 billion multimodal container terminal to serve the largest container vessels calling in the Gulf of Mexico. Following unanimous approval by the Board of Commissioners, Port NOLA intends to acquire property in St. Bernard Parish and begin a two-year due diligence and permitting period that will include robust community engagement.

Following a slow October, when just more than 110,000 tons moved through the Port of Green Bay, November shipments were strong at nearly 238,000 tons. Limestone shipments accounted for nearly 100,000 tons of cargo in November, while imports of foreign and domestic salt were also strong. “Coal and petroleum products also played a role in the solid November tonnage” said Port Director Dean Haen.
