The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) announced the Biden-Harris Administration has selected 24 projects to receive funding under the FY 2021 Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) discretionary grant program. The Port of Baltimore welcomes a new container service originating in Southeast Asia with the launch of a new Maersk Line. This Transpacific/Panama Canal service will arrive at the port’s Seagirt Marine Terminal, which is managed by Ports America Chesapeake under the public-private partnership with the port.

The Port of Brownsville proudly supports the Rio Grand Valley Reef Project and serves as a central base of operations for storing and transporting thousands of tons of materials used to create the largest artificial reef in the state of Texas. The Port of New York and New Jersey welcomed the Statue of Liberty’s “little sister” on June 30, arriving from Le Havre, France, aboard the 6,500-TEU CMA CGM NERVAL. The new statue celebrated Independence Day with her full-scale sister on Ellis Island. Little Lady Liberty’s final destination will be at the French Ambassador’s Residence in Washington, D.C., to be unveiled on Bastille Day, July 14.

Galveston Wharves set a new wind turbine cargo record in May, importing more than 500 pieces, including tower sections, blades and nacelles. As wind energy imports have steadily increased over the past 15 years to meet the nation’s transition to renewable energy, the port and its partners have made improvements to accommodate this growing industry.
