The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) is soliciting for its annual Section 7001 report to Congress. The amended Section 7001 of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) 2014 requires the Secretary of the Army to submit an annual report to Congress, enabling new starts for project-specific reports and using a process that did not violate the earmark ban. This report identifies feasibility reports; proposed feasibility studies from non-federal interests (including projects for authorization in future Water Resources Development Act, or WRDA bills); potential modifications to authorized water resources development projects or feasibility studies; and specific, proposed modifications to environmental infrastructure program authorities. The Corps published the solicitation announcement on April 29. Please submit Section 7001 proposals online by August 29, 2022. Read more on the Section 7001 projects solicitation here.

Two days after hosting one of America’s oldest traditions, the White House Easter Egg Roll, President Biden boarded Air Force One enroute to Portsmouth, N.H., where he delivered remarks on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law at the Port of New Hampshire/Pease Development Authority. The president was greeted by Division of Ports and Harbors Director Geno Marconi alongside state and local dignitaries. Portsmouth Harbor and the Piscataqua River Turning Basin Navigation Project are examples of the benefit of federal infrastructure funding. After 35 years, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) was able to fund the dredging project and expand the turning basin from 800 feet to 1,200 feet, which makes it much safer and more efficient for ships to be turned. Marconi credits U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) for their work to ensure the project was included in the Corps Workplan to be completed this year.
