AAPA Seaports Advisory
October 21, 2022
More than 650 port industry professionals gathered in Orlando, Fla., October 16-19 for AAPA’s 111th Annual Convention and Expo, making it one of the association’s most-attended events ever. Ports, solution providers, sponsors, and exhibitors convened with energy high and the mood positive throughout the four-day event.

It was a productive week of governance meetings, high-profile speakers and networking events. Speakers covered a gamut of timely industry issues such as the supply chain, federal grant programs, and revolutionizing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Civil Works Program. Engaging workshops gave attendees the opportunity for a more thorough analysis on issues critical to the industry such as engaging in infrastructure projects, electrification and wind power, workforce development, and port security. Nearly 75 companies, government agencies and ports participated in a robust and lively exhibit hall that saw consistent traffic throughout the convention.

The Annual Convention included several notable highlights, including the election of AAPA’s new Chairman of the Board of Directors, Port of Corpus Christi Chief Executive Officer Sean Strawbridge, and new board members. Outgoing chairman and Port of Long Beach President and CEO Mario Cordero was acknowledged for his work on behalf of the port industry during his term. AAPA's Lighthouse Awards recipients were recognized and an inspiring, motivational address was delivered by Col. Nicole Malachowski, USAF (Ret.) combat veteran and the first woman Thunderbirds pilot.

Attendees closed out the convention with a block party at Universal’s CityWalk. A selection of convention photos can be viewed online, and more will be available starting next week. To learn more details about the convention, visit the convention website

Thank you to our exhibitors, sponsors and everyone who traveled to Orlando and made it all possible. Save the date for the 112th Annual Convention in Aurora, Colorado, October 22-26, 2023. Check out what's in store next year!
