Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD) announced the receipt of several dredging awards totaling $177 million. Lasse Petterson, President and Chief Executive Officer commented, “These projects bring dredging backlog to approximately $1.1 billion to date. Great Lakes is pleased to add these important projects to our 2023 backlog of capital, coastal protection and maintenance work. Working on these projects allows Great Lakes to help support the overall improvement and resiliency of our country’s environment, coastlines, and infrastructure.”

St. Louis regional ports and the St. Louis Regional Freightway are jointly supporting the Port of New Orleans’ (Port NOLA) efforts to strengthen the flow of inland river cargo with the development of the Louisiana International Terminal (LIT). The LIT is a new container terminal project on the Gulf Coast that will benefit not only residents and businesses in south Louisiana, but also advanced manufacturing operations, agribusinesses and farmers, as well as other port operations throughout the Southeast and Midwest regions.

Ports of Indiana filled two key leadership roles at its Ohio River ports, naming Ashley Blocker and Michael Graves as Operations Managers in Mount Vernon and Jeffersonville, respectively. Blocker, a southwest Indiana native, was promoted to the new role after serving as Operations Analyst for Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon since 2022. Graves is a Louisville, Kentucky, native, and comes to Ports of Indiana-Jeffersonville after five years with SM&E engineering.

Konecranes will deliver eight rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes to a new container terminal at Puerto Antioquia, Colombia, that will provide new export and import power for the regional economy of Antioquia and Colombia as a whole. The eight RTGs for Puerto Antioquia were ordered by Puerto Bahia Colombia de Uraba, whose key shareholder is the CMA CGM Group. They are fully electric, powered by cable reels connected to the local grid.

Portos RS and DockTech signed an unprecedented use-of-technology agreement, using Wilson Sons’ tugboats as data collectors, to increase the efficiency of port and shipping operations. DockTech, an Israeli startup, develops innovative technologies for real-time seabed monitoring to increase the efficiency and safety of port and shipping operations.

The Port of San Diego has once again been recognized as a San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Diamond Award winner, as a Platinum recipient. SANDAG hosts the Diamond Awards every year to celebrate employers from across the region for their leadership in sustainable commuting to and from the workplace.

The Port of Oakland joined forces with community partners to host a Zero Emissions Truck Ride and Drive event, providing port operators the opportunity to experience state-of-the-art zero emissions vehicles firsthand. The Port partnered with Harbor Trucking Association, CALSTART, California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emissions Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), California Air Resources Board (CARB), and PG&E to bring zero emissions vehicles to life on September 15 at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park.
