FDA Issues Information on "Partial Heart Transplantation"
FDA CBER has published information related to procedures that involve transplantation of fresh aortic and/or pulmonary allografts for treatment of congenital heart defects in infants. CBER contends that provided the heart valves used in the procedures meet all criteria in 21 CFR 1271.10(a), they are regulated as HCT/Ps under PHS 361 and the 1271s, and all applicable regulations apply.
