ACCG Welcomes New Fall Interns

Angel White, Cedrick Baker & Kristin Rome

ACCG welcomes fall interns Angel White, Cedrick Baker and Kristin Rome. Each semester, the association hires interns to assist policy, legal and communications staff with various projects.  Over the course of their internship, through December, each intern will be given the opportunity to attend policy meetings, interact with ACCG staff and learn about county government issues.

Although Angel White has lived in five different states, she claims Marietta, Georgia as home. An undergraduate at Georgia State University, majoring in journalism with a concentration in print, Angel ultimately wants to become the creative director of a major fashion and beauty publication. She spends her spare time volunteering in her community and being an active participant in community and campus events. She is a Hope Scholar, GSU Emerging Young Leader and is a Dean’s List Recipient. As a communications intern, Angel will assist the communications director by editing, reviewing and writing articles for the Georgia County Government magazine, contributing content for the County Line e-newsletter and ACCG website, and by providing research on a variety of topics.

Cedrick Baker, a native of Gainesville, Florida, graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in Sociology and is currently enrolled in Georgia State University’s MPA Program with a concentration in Management and Finance. His previous internship experience includes working with DeKalb County Board of Commissioners as a Policy and Research Intern through the Georgia County Internship Program, Mayor’s Office Intern for the City of Gainesville, Florida, and the City of College Park as an Economic Development Intern. His career goal is to eventually become a county or city manager. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, reading, and playing the piano. As a policy intern, Cedrick will assist the policy staff by researching county tax assessments, assessing regulatory requirements for businesses at the county level and by providing additional research as needed.

Kristin Rome is a graduate student at Kennesaw State University, and is currently receiving a dual Masters Degree in Public Administration and Business Administration. She received her undergraduate degree in History from Georgia Southern University with a minor in English. Recently, Kristin finished an internship with the Arthritis Foundation Southeast Region in Atlanta. Also, for the past year, she has been a graduate research assistant for the director of the Public Administration Department, Dr. Andrew Ewoh, at Kennesaw State University. She will be presenting a paper with Dr. Ewoh in October at the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines Conference in Memphis. Kristin will graduate in December 2011, and hopes to proceed with a career in local or state government administration. As a policy intern, Kristin will assist the policy staff by tracking the adoption of county 911 ordinances and resolutions, researching civility program initiatives and historical county data, and providing additional research on a variety of projects.
