ACCG Welcomes Spring Policy and Research Interns

ACCG welcomes spring semester policy and research interns, Xavier Jennings and Anthony Nguyen. The interns will assist the policy and research staff with special projects, legislative research, and tracking legislation before the General Assembly.
Xavier Jennings was born in Atlanta, Georgia and is a 2017 graduate of the University of West Georgia with a B.S. in political science and policy. He is finishing his Master’s in Public Administration at Purdue University (Global). He aspires to work his way to being a director of legislative affairs or government relations for a Fortune 500 company or director of a policy office. Jennings has completed internships in the Governor’s Office and in the Georgia House of Representatives. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing Xbox and basketball, hiking, and mentoring freshmen college students in the West Georgia’s African American Male Initiative (AAMI) Program.
Anthony Nguyen was born in San Jose, California and was raised in Savannah, Georgia. Nguyen graduated in December 2018 with a biology degree from Georgia State University (GSU). He plans to attend law school in the upcoming fall and is interested in working in the federal judiciary and moving to California or Washington D.C. Nguyen founded the first Asian American interest fraternity at GSU and has completed internships in the Governor’s Office and in the Georgia House of Representatives. In his spare time, he enjoys poetry and watching Black Mirror on Netflix.
Over the course of their internships, Jennings and Nguyen will be tracking local and general legislation, attending committee meetings, collecting data from surveys and analyzing the results, calculating tag and title cost components for state and local government, updating energy excise tax information, creating charts, graphs, data sets and reports, and other tasks as assigned by the research and policy staff. |
