Counties and authorities participating in the ACCG - Group Self-Insurance Workers’ Compensation Fund (ACCG-GSIWCF) will be seeing one of the benefits of belonging to a member-owned, self-insured program. Checks totaling $4.5 million have been sent to counties and authorities that have participated in the program continuously since 2014 due to a special return of surplus approved by the ACCG-GSIWCF Board of Trustees. McDuffie County Commissioner Fred Favors serves as Chairman of the ACCG-GSIWCF Board of Trustees.
A similar cash distribution was made in 2016. At the time, it was anticipated to be a special one-time occurrence, but better-than-expected investment returns and claims that were not as costly as actuarial projections enabled the Board to approve the special return of cash to the membership.
The current distribution is in addition to an annual dividend that is returned in the form of a premium credit. In 2019, the premium credit saved eligible members an average of over 13 percent on their workers’ compensation premiums.
Benefits such as this special return and the premium credit show the value of having a long-term commitment to one of ACCG’s Insurance Programs. If you would like additional details about any of ACCG’s insurance offerings, please contact Joe Dan Thompson at 404-522-5022.
