ACCG Welcomes 2020 Spring Interns and Extern

ACCG welcomes spring semester policy and research interns, Ted Davis and Chase Sherrod, and legal extern, Kathleen Taylor. These students will assist the policy and research staff and legal team with special projects, bill analysis, legislative and legal research, and legislative tracking during the 2020 legislative session.

Ted Davis is a senior at Kennesaw State University, majoring in political science, having previously earned an associate of arts degree at Oxford College of Emory University. He is a participant in KSU’s Model UN team, having recently won Best Delegation for representing Iran in SRMUN 2019. When he is not cracking the books, Davis is an avid hiker, loves watching Atlanta sports, especially the Braves and Atlanta United, and is a collector of unusual election paraphernalia. After graduation, Davis plans to earn a M.P.A. with an emphasis on county and municipal governments within Georgia.

Chase Sherrod is a third-year law student pursuing a joint J.D./M.P.A. degree at Georgia State University’s College of Law and Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. Prior to law school, he graduated magna cum laude from Armstrong State University  where he received a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a B.A. in Political Science. After completing his degree at GSU, Sherrod plans to pursue a career geared towards working with local governments in Georgia. Whether this will be in the legal or policy field is still to be determined. In his spare time, Sherrod enjoys fishing, hunting, and basically any activity that involves the great outdoors. 

Over the course of their internships, Davis and Sherrod will track all local legislation, assist the policy staff in tracking general legislation, research county issues before the General Assembly, attend committee meetings, survey counties, analyze data, compile reports, and provide research assistance as need.

Kathleen Taylor is pursuing "double bear” status at Mercer University, having previously received her B.A. in sociology in 2016 and finishing her law degree with the Mercer University School of Law in May. As an undergraduate, Taylor was active in the Student Government Association, serving as freshman class president, and as the public relations chair of the National Panhellenic Conference. In law school, Taylor served as president of the American Constitution Society for her first two years and as a member of the Association of Women Law Students. As a Savannah native, she enjoys water sports and all things coastal. After graduation, Taylor plans on staying in the Atlanta area working in local or federal government. Through her legal externship with ACCG, Taylor will research legal issues, prepare summaries and legal analysis of legislation, help draft bills, amendments and substitutes, attend committee meetings, and assist the legal staff with legal and legislative projects.
