COVID-19 and the Georgia Forestry Commission

Print Print this article

The Georgia Forestry Commission released the following statement:

Challenges presented by COVID-19 have been met by a versatile Georgia Forestry Commission workforce performing services not normally seen by the general public. Throughout this time, the safety of our customers and our staff has remained paramount. While wildfire response services continued 24/7 and other needs were met by teleworking staff and limited local staffing, we’re now ramping up toward more normal service expectations. Plowing/burning/harrowing operations have begun and measured steps are being taken for all other services GFC provides. Landowners should call their local county office to discuss their needs.

A specially trained GFC Incident Management Team began leading operations for the Georgia Department of Health at its medical distribution warehouse in early March. That team is still on duty, as are GFC personnel providing transportation and distribution services throughout the state.

We’re grateful for the patience our fellow Georgians have shown us during these difficult months. Everyone at GFC is proud we’ve been able to adapt and continue to serve the taxpayers of Georgia through this unprecedented time.
