Georgia County Internship Spotlight

                                                        

 

 

Warren County received a Verizon Foundation grant for their 2020 summer tourism project. Angela Wilkerson, an interdisciplinary studies major at Augusta Technical College, worked with the Warren County Tourism Director, Jeffrey Fowler, to develop and update tourism products for Warren County. Wilkerson helped to update county brochures, updated, and created new pages for the county website, researched historic places within the county, and expanded the tourism section of the county website.

 

Wilkerson’s most significant success was helping to host a Main Street event, which included planning for and implementing COVID 19 safety protocols. Her favorite part of the internship was learning more about how county government functioned.  In terms of new skills, Wilkerson feels that she learned more about advertising and marketing and increased her writing and social media skills. Due to her excellent work with the county, her internship was extended to work on additional projects after her 200 hour internship was completed.
