Wildfire activity has increased across the state and the short and long-term predictions for Georgia call for mounting wildfire potential over the next three months. With limbs and dry forest debris piling up, and burn permits no longer required for the backyard burn pile, landowners should be reminded they may only burn when weather conditions allow. The Georgia Forestry Commission provides fire weather forecasts at http://weather.gfc.state.ga.us. Other than lightning or naturally occurring fires, all other wildfires are caused by humans!
