Georgia law now states that counties requiring notification about timber harvesting activity must use the online website no later than July 1, 2023. The Georgia Forestry Commission received the National Woodland Owners Association’s 2022 Outstanding Forestry Legislation Award for developing HB 897, which created the site to standardize timber harvest notifications statewide. The automated process saves time for county staff and makes harvesting notification easier for loggers. Currently, 74 counties and one city are participating.
