As the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) progresses through the BEAD Challenge Process, it would like to remind entities wishing to rebut challenged locations for the BEAD Program that they must do so by the following deadlines:
  • May 5, 2024 – Main deadline for rebuttal. This includes all rebuttals of the original planned service locations, and challenges levied against specific internet service providers (ISPs). Technical support will be provided until 5 p.m. on Friday May 3, 2024.
  • May 10, 2024 – Deadline for rebuttal of state recoded challenges. This deadline applies only to the file titled “State Recoded Challenges” and includes locations that the State determined showed existing service and were recoded to a “Type P” challenge.
  • May 17, 2024 – Deadline for rebuttal of State Enforceable Commitments. This deadline applies only to the file titled “State Enforceable Commitments” and includes all locations that are currently included in a state enforceable commitment.
For challenges related to location eligibility, only the challenged service provider may rebut the reclassification of a location or area with evidence. If a provider claims gigabit service availability for a CAI or a unit of local government disputes the CAI status of a location, the CAI may rebut. All types of challengers may rebut planned service (P) and enforceable commitment (E) challenges. Providers must regularly check the challenge portal notification method for notifications of submitted and/or rebutted challenges.

GTA is encouraging all entities wishing to rebut locations to submit their rebuttals as soon as possible as technical support for the May 5, 2024, deadline will only be available until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024.

If an eligible entity wishes to submit a rebuttal, please submit all required evidence to broadband@gta.ga.gov. For files over 100mb, please contact the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at broadband@itos.uga.edu.
