Over the last couple of months, several Georgia counties have been victims of cybercrimes. October marks the 21st Cybersecurity Awareness Month. In 2004, President George W. Bush and the United States Congress dedicated the month of October for public and private sectors to work together to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.
In 2023, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) partnered to create resources and messaging for organizations to use when talking with their employees, customers, and members about staying safe online. Secure Our World will be the enduring theme for all future Cybersecurity Awareness Months. The theme recognizes the importance of taking daily action to reduce risks when online and connected to devices. We encourage you to incorporate the 4 simple steps into your own campaigns:
- Recognize & Report Phishing
- Use Strong Passwords
- Turn on Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
- Update Software
