ACCG hosted returning summer intern, Colin Marcum, and law clerk, John Bush, during the fall to complete projects on behalf of the governmental affairs and legal staff. During their time with ACCG, they updated publications, provided research on a variety of topics, tracked election results, assisted with survey collection and analysis, and worked on special projects.
John Bush is pursuing a law degree at Georgia State University College of Law. Before law school, Bush graduated with honors from the University of Georgia with an undergraduate degree in Political Science. Growing up in Gainesville, Georgia, he advocated increasing the National Endowment for the Arts as an International Thespian Officer with the Americans for the Arts. From there, he pivoted from seeking a formal theater education to majoring in political science. Bush double-downed on his pursuit by participating in the Frye Fellowship, Model United Nations, and holding office as treasurer for Rescue Paws at the University of Georgia. With hopes of serving his community in the legal profession as a criminal defense attorney, Bush is excited to learn from and contribute to ACCG.
Colin Marcum is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management at Emory University. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama, where he double majored in Operations Management and Political Science. Marcum's academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of public health policy and governmental affairs. With a strong foundation in operations and political science, he is passionate about developing and implementing policies that enhance public health systems and outcomes. Eager to bridge the gap between health policy and government operations, Marcum is dedicated to contributing to initiatives that promote health equity and improve the overall well-being of Georgia communities.
