Truck Weights Survey
In 2023, the Georgia General Assembly passed HB 189, which increased the allowable weight limit to 88,000 lbs. by increasing the variance from 5% to 10% for vehicles hauling certain agricultural products outside the metro Atlanta area. It also gave local law enforcement the ability to enforce weight limits. Most of the requirements of this legislation will sunset on July 1, 2025.

ACCG needs your help in collecting data on how the increase in truck weights has impacted roads and bridges, safety, and comprehensive planning for your county. Counties meeting certain criteria have been selected to take the survey. If your county has received a request to complete this survey, please do so by Friday, Nov. 15.

Capital Needs Survey
ACCG has partnered with the Georgia Municipal Association to create a capital needs survey. This survey will document counties’ capital needs for the upcoming five years (2025-2030). Data gathered through this survey will be shared with state and federal leaders to empower them to make informed decisions about policies that impact revenues available for local infrastructure projects. The survey will ask you to estimate how much you will spend or could reasonably spend across nine capital project categories during each of the next five years, if resources (local, federal, and/or state) were available. This survey will be distributed to counties in phases starting in November with our metro counties.
