Agency Achievement Award for Excellence in HR Management
The GLGPA established this award to recognize the overall quality, accomplishments, and contributions of an agency human resource program that exceeds the normal operation of a "good government human resource program." Two awards were given out based on the number of employees covered by their human resource program – a Small Agency Award (under 500 employees) and a Large Agency Award (500 and over employees).
This year’s Large Agency Award goes to Augusta-Richmond County by finding ways to become more effective and efficient by implementing NeoGov, an automated employment system, and ADP. They have increased employee morale by revamping the new employee orientation program and establishing an employee incentive awards program. By concentrating on their employee health and wellness, they have kept the cost of their medical insurance the same for the last two years.
This year’s Small Agency Award goes to the City of Fayetteville for their Wellness Program which was established in 2006, but recently added the HTA’s (Health Risk Assessment) and biometric tests. Ninety percent of their work force participates in the program, and employees have lost weight and changed their health habits. This program has helped reduce the cost of their medical insurance.
2010 Professional Achievement Award for Outstanding HR Manager
The GLGPA established this award to recognize individual efforts of an Outstanding Human Resource Manager.
This year’s recipient is Karen Fraser, director of human resources for Walton County. Karen was chosen for her outstanding dedication to the human resource profession. Darlene Taylor of Taylor Benefit Resource, Inc. stated that Karen is always open to help others. She has helped other city and county HR personnel to grow as proficient human resource professionals through her guidance. She genuinely cares about people and does whatever she can to help in any way.
Karen is currently serving as secretary of the GLGPA and has served as a board member and past president.
