Th NACo High Performance Leadership Academy was launched by NACo last year in partnership with the team from an organization called the Professional Development Academy, which includes General Colin Powell, Dr. Marshall Goldsmith, and many others from both private industry and government agencies.

According to information shared by NACo, more than 500 counties have enrolled emerging and existing leaders since the launch of the program last year. NACo is offering four sessions annually, with the next one starting in September.
The program is targeted for both elected officials and county staff. The 12-week program is facilitated online and takes about 4-5 hours per week. The cost of the program is $1,995; however, the first person enrolled from each NACo member county receives a $1,500 scholarship making the program available for $495. A $300 scholarship is available for everyone thereafter, making the cost of the program $1,695. Non-NACo member counties are also eligible to participate for $1,695. The only Georgia counties that have participated in this program to date are DeKalb and Fulton.
