The nomination window is now open for the 2025 ACCG Awards and Recognition Program. Consider nominating an exceptional county leader for one of ACCG's prestigious awards. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 28.
  
Registration is open for the 2025 Capitol Connection Conference. Join us on Feb. 24 -25 for two days of learning, networking, and engaging with state leaders at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in downtown Fulton County. County officials are encouraged to invite their legislators to the legislative reception on Monday and breakfast on Tuesday.
  
This is the last opportunity to assist ACCG and the Georgia Municipal Association with collecting data for counties’ capital needs. Your input will help state and federal leaders make informed decisions about policies that impact revenues available for local infrastructure projects.
  
Congratulations to the 2025 Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP) grant recipients. Forty-five grant winners will receive funding to provide internship opportunities in various areas of county government. Learn more about the award winners and their internships.

Did you know that January is Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month? Throughout the month, the Firefighter Cancer Support Network in partnership with the International Association of Fire Fighters, will provide firefighters with the necessary tools and guidance for cancer prevention and support.
  
The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is granting a one-time extension of the BEAD Grant Program application window. All Round 1 applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025 for consideration.
  
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has opened the application period for the Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program, which provides federal funding for projects that support alternative transportation modes. Applications for projects must be submitted by midnight on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025
  
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) is encouraging local governments to assist with scrap tire cleanup by applying for the Local Government Scrap Tire Abatement Reimbursement (STAR) Grant. EPD will host a virtual training on the grant program on Thursday, Jan. 9.
  
Forest landowners affected by Hurricane Helene should begin receiving recovery assistance through two state relief programs administered by the Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC). Applicants with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact their local GFC forester.
  
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is accepting applications for the 2025 Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) grants. This grant cycle is offering $10 million in funding to local governments, nonprofits, and public housing authorities. Applications must be submitted via the Emphasys online portal by Friday, Jan. 31.
  
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety will begin taking applications for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) grants this month. Grant Applications must be submitted via the GOHS grant management system no later than 11:59 p.m. Monday, March 3.

More than $20 million in funding is available through the Local Governments’ Wildfire Response Pilot Program to strengthen local governments’ wildfire response. This funding targets small, remote emergency response agencies and allows them to purchase slip-on tanker units to quickly convert trucks into wildland fire engines. Applications must be submitted through grants.gov by Wednesday, Feb. 26.
  
Registration is now open for the 2025 NACo Legislative Conference. The conference will take place March 1-4 in Washington, D.C. Attendees have the opportunity to engage in policy and educational sessions, interact with federal officials, and participate in congressional briefings and meetings.
