The deadline to nominate county officials and county staff for an ACCG Leadership Award is quickly approaching! Take a few minutes to nominate a deserving leader in your community for an award. The deadline is Friday, Feb. 28.

LGRMS, in partnership with ACCG and GMA, is raising awareness of firefighter cancer risks in Georgia. Through the Firefighter Cancer Awareness Incentive Program, two fire departments (one county and one city) can receive up to $5,000 for equipment to reduce cancer risks. Applications are due by Friday, Oct. 31.
  
Eligible ACCG Workers' Compensation members now have until Wednesday, Dec. 31 to apply for the Online Driver Training Incentive Grant. The grant aims to provide financial assistance to sheriffs' offices to reduce workplace injuries and promote safe driving.
  
GCIP internships have proven beneficial for both counties and students, helping them develop valuable skills while assisting with projects that might otherwise go unfinished. This was certainly the case for Aaliyah Clark and Karl Gantz, who completed internships in Augusta-Richmond County. The UGA CyberArch program is hosting a series of webinars to raise awareness about cybersecurity threats and the importance of cyber readiness. This month's webinar, titled "Staying Compliant: Updates in Cybersecurity Regulations in 2025," is part of an ongoing effort to educate local governments and other entities on the latest cybersecurity regulations and best practices for staying secure. 
  
The Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) is taking proactive steps to help landowners reduce wildfire risks through prescribed burning, reforestation, and relief programs. The deadline to submit project applications for the Transportation Alternatives (TA) Program is midnight on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025. The TA Program was established to provide federal funding for projects that support alternative transportation modes. 
  
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) is accepting applications for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) grants. Grant Applications must be submitted via the GOHS grant management system no later than 11:59 p.m. Monday, March 3.

The National Association of Counties (NACo) is now accepting interim policy resolutions for its 2024 Legislative Conference, in Washington, D.C. on March 1-4. The NACo resolutions process provides members with the ability to participate in national policy decisions affecting county governments.
More than $20 million in funding is available through the Local Governments’ Wildfire Response Pilot Program to strengthen local governments’ wildfire response. This funding targets small, remote emergency response agencies and allows them to purchase slip-on tanker units to quickly convert trucks into wildland fire engines. Applications must be submitted through grants.gov by Wednesday, Feb. 26.
