The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GAEPD) recently announced two grant opportunities in which county governments are eligible. Counties may apply for the Owens-Brockway Supplemental Environmental Project to receive funding to assist with retrofitting vehicles/equipment with pollution equipment or to purchase alternative fuel vehicles. The FY2017 Section 319(h) Nonpoint Source Implementation Grant is an annual grant under Section 319(h) of the Federal Clean Water Act to help prevent, control and/or abate nonpoint source pollution in support of Georgia’s Nonpoint Source Management Program. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) final rules for the commercial use of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, will be effective starting August 29th. The FAA determined that certain legal aspects concerting small UAS use is best addressed at the state or local level, including privacy issues, and thus didn’t include any provisions that would preempt any laws.
