DETAILS

On October 17, 2017, the Association of Diving Contractors (ADCI) and the American Salvage Association (ASA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen the communications and working relationship between the two organizations, as well as provide a framework for the safe conduct of underwater salvage diving operations. We are proud to announce that the first formal event to be attended by both associations will be at the 21st Annual ADCI Latin America & Caribbean Chapter Meeting, in Panama, 1-2 August 2018.

The Chapter meeting will be held in tandem with the Conferencia Annual Maritima de Panama. The two day event will feature productive round-table discussions, presentations, and provide invaluable networking opportunities for current and prospective members of both associations. "We want to invite all ASA and ADCI members to join us in Panama this August. With key representatives from relevant Latin American maritime authorities also invited to participate, this exciting program promises to provide an opportunity to build upon strategic alliances, highlight valuable synergies across the commercial diving and marine salvage communities, and to further develop relationships with government stakeholders who will require the assistance of our membership during maritime casualties and natural disasters," said Lino Arosemena, chairman of the ASA’s Latin American Committee and General Manager of Talleres Industries.

For those of you unfamiliar with the American Salvage Association (ASA), the mission of the ASA is to be a unifying association of the commercial marine salvage industry, serving as the definitive spokesman for this industry in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere in North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean Sea. The objectives of the ASA are to: (1) Unite marine salvors working in North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean Sea to consider and, when desirable, take joint action on any matters affecting the marine salvage industry; (2) To work towards the improvement and, where applicable, the standardization of contracts and other documentation relevant to the marine salvage industry; (3)To cooperate with other Associations working in the interests of the marine salvage industry; and (4)To give active support to its General Members in relation to legal or commercial disputes where such support is recommended by the Executive Committee and approved by the Membership. For more information or to become a member please see www.AmericanSalvage.org.

For the past few years the ADCI has felt that it was appropriate for the two associations to venture into a more collaborative relationship, as many companies are members of both the ADCI and ASA. In fact, both associations have formal partnerships with the USCG and are regarded by all stakeholders as industry experts in their respective areas.

The ADCI welcomes all stakeholders to join us for this event focusing on commercial diving operations, salvage diving operations, and addressing the challenges and highlighting the advancements in the commercial diving and marine salvage industries.

This Information was sent to further the communication of all industry stakeholders. Safety is the primary concern of the ADCI. Remember: a real-time Job Hazard Analysis is important, but nothing can replace good common sense.
