American Salvage Association Hosts Congressman Elijah E. Cummings

On Tuesday, November 27th, just prior to the start of the American Salvage Association's 2018 Annual Meeting, the American Salvage Association along with Phil Newsum hosted a breakfast fundraising event for Congressman Elijah E. Cummings. Congressman Cummings is Senior Member of the House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, current Ranking Member and soon to be Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Congressman Cummings attended the opening session of the ASA Annual Meeting and was recognized for his leadership in initiating the promulgation of the OPA 90 Salvage and Marine Firefighting Regulations which have enhanced casualty response and the safety of life and property, and protection of the marine environment.
It is important that the salvage, diving and offshore sectors show support for the mission of the U. S. Coast Guard, the resolution of the current USCG Merchant Mariner Credential issue and secure broader and stronger responder immunity protection among other things.
