USACE oversees multi-national team complete Mosul Dam dive mission. Each day started as would any day at dive stations around the world; team arrived at job site, equipment and clearances were checked, safety meeting held, work began. However, for the Drafinsub-Nautilus Joint Venture (DNJV) dive team working Mosul Dam, most days also included watching war planes, copters and drones buzz overhead, rockets being launched from nearby hills, hearing distant explosions and seeing billowing black smoke framing battles ragging between Iraqi-led forces and the Islamic State (ISIS) in nearby Mosul City.
 
Darryl Goldsmith lost his sight in a Marine Corps training accident. Paul Kaufman, an Air Force veteran, has limited vision because of a degenerative medical condition. Goldsmith and Kaufman are among the more 137 area veterans who have become dive certified through Pensacola's Veterans Dive Locker, a nonprofit program started seven years ago by former commercial diver and Vietnam veteran Dan Anderson.
 
ROV services provider M2 Subsea has opened a new purpose-built test tank at its base west of Aberdeen. The indoor fresh water tank, which can hold 73,600 liters (19,443 gallons) of water, has been created for testing ROVs and ancillary equipment, allowing the company to have total control from planning to completion of testing.

The Bergen International Diving Seminar 2017 will be held November 15 and 16 at the Clarion Hotel Bergen Airport. The 2017 Topic is Smarter Solutions to Address the Industry's Future. NUI will, on behalf of The Association of Operators for Hyperbaric Lifeboat Reception Facilities repeat the success by arranging the 25th Bergen International Diving Seminar.
 
Recognizing and honoring individuals whose efforts and accomplishments have significantly contributed to commercial diving through a lifetime of dedication.

Nominees do not have to be commercial divers, but can be any individual who has been influential and who has made a significant and recognizable life-long contribution to the commercial diving community.

Inductees will be honored at the Awards Dinner at Underwater Intervention 2018.

Award
This year the ADCI will award 2 Scholarships at $4,000.00 each.

Eligibility
This ADCI Scholarship is open to members of the community of all ADCI voting member companies who are current and in good standing with ADCI, with the exception of officers and/or directors of the ADCI Board of Directors or their immediate families. This award is available for any institution of higher learning after high school including universities, colleges, junior colleges, vocational training schools and trade schools. 

Scholarship recipients will be honored at the Awards Dinner at Underwater Intervention 2018.

Subsea UK has highlighted the huge opportunity for subsea companies to step-up and play their part in helping to meet the world’s renewable energy targets at an event in Aberdeen on September 21 2017.
 
Phil Nuytten's innovations have been widely adopted by NASA, National Geographic and filmmaker James Cameron. In Ottawa on Friday, Nuytten's achievements were recognized yet again when he was appointed to the Order of Canada.
 
Organic growth from James Fisher & Sons PLC's four divisions in the first half of 2017 contributed to higher revenue and profit, with recovery in the oil and gas sector and expansion into new markets paving the way for further growth in the second half.
 
NEW PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGY
Deep Ocean Engineering introduces a small ROV system for the ARIS sonar, complete with a tilt and roll actuator. While the system is operating, the sonar is being controlled from the topside systems unit.
 
The CRT200 Cable Retrieval Tool, developed by hydraulic tools specialist Webtool, has received design verification approval from international certification body and classification society, DNV GL. It is the first cable and umbilical retrieval tool to meet the exacting design codes and standards for marine operations, and offshore and platform lifting appliances.
