The SubOptic 2019 conference, themed To the Beach and Beyond – Rethinking Global Networks, opened registration to the public on March 1. This premier industry event for companies in the subsea cable industry will attract more than 1,000 subsea fiber-optic cable professionals to New Orleans, LA (USA) on April 8-11, 2019.
 
M² Subsea has secured a multi-million dollar contract with TransCanada to carry out pipeline-span support on the company’s pipeline installation for the Sur de Texas-Tuxpan gas project in the Gulf of Mexico.
 
The National Subsea Research Initiative (NSRI) has appointed Tony Laing as its new director of research and market acceleration.
 
Oceaneering International, Inc. ("Oceaneering") announced that one of its wholly owned subsidiaries, Oceaneering International Services Limited, was named a winner in the Carbon Trust Offshore Wind Accelerator ("OWA") competition. The purpose of the competition is to seek new or adaptable techniques that provide innovative and low-risk inspection solutions that address industry challenges.

The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, in partnership with the Baker-Polito Administration’s Support Economic Council (SEC), has opened applications for the "Grand Challenge," a new program aimed at supporting projects that bring forth the development of innovative technologies in support of the marine economy in Massachusetts. The Grand Challenge will support projects that apply technology and business solutions to the marine economy. The SEC has allocated up to $500,000 to connect entrepreneurs and new technology to seaport communities. The IoT (Internet of Things) represents technology and business innovations that contribute to the prosperity of the state, and provide potential solutions to contemporary environmental challenges.
 
Indiana University's Center for Underwater Science program has signed a new agreement with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to enhance the two entities' collaboration on underwater and maritime archaeology, conservation, heritage management and public outreach.
 
Subsea services firm, Rovco was crowned the New Enterprise of the Year at the prestigious Subsea UK Awards. Held during Subsea Expo, Europe’s largest subsea-focused exhibition and conference, the ceremony brought together more than 600 industry professionals to recognise the finest talent, leadership and contributions across the sector.
