The US House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to block new offshore drilling in US Atlantic and Pacific waters as well as acreage in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The bills passed by the House Wednesday are unlikely to pass in the Republican-controlled Senate, but their approval underscored significant bipartisan opposition to the Trump administration’s plans to expand coastal oil and gas development.

Lease Sale 253 generated $159,386,761 in high bids for 151 blocks covering 835,006 acres (1,305 sq mi) in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico, according to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.

Eligibility This ADCI Scholarship is open to members of the community of all ADCI voting member companies who are current and in good standing with ADCI, with the exception of officers and/or directors of the ADCI Board of Directors or their immediate families. This award is available for any institution of higher learning after high school including universities, colleges, junior colleges, vocational training schools and trade schools.

Tower Resources has issued an update on its activities offshore South Africa, where the company is a partner in a 50:50 joint venture with New Age in the Algoa-Gamtoos license, which adjoins Total’s concession in the Outeniqua basin. Earlier this year Total confirmed the 1-Bboe Brulpadda gas-condensate discoveryin its basin, and Tower understands that the company now plans further wells in the basin between the discovery well and the joint venture’s license.

Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD) has incorporated underwater navigation technology from Sonardyne International in its new electric work class ROV, unveiled last week at Offshore Europe. The Quantum EV range will be factory-fitted with Sonardyne’s hybrid navigation solution, Lodestar-Nav 200. This, Sonardyne said, would allow owners to put the ROV straight into operational service after taking delivery.

Damen Shipyards Group has hired PG Flow Solutions to deliver an engine room pump system for an offshore mining vessel the shipbuilder is constructing for De Beers Marine Namibia. Once completed, the vessel will be the one of the most technologically advanced marine diamond recovery vessels in the world. It will be 177 meters long and constructed from a Marin Teknikk design.
