INTERNATIONAL NEWS
The government of South Africa has approved Africa Oil SA Corp.’s acquisition of a 20% participating interest and operatorship of block 3B/4B from Azinam Ltd.
 
The first engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract has been awarded by Saudi Aramco in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of the long-term agreement in force until 2021.

NEW PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGY
Hydroid said it has delivered the first REMUS 300 unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) prototype to the US Navy through the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU).
This new, modular UUV will be assessed over the next year as a potential solution for the next generation small-class UUV (SUUV) program for the Navy.
 
Mocean Energy has teamed up with energy major Chrysaor, subsea energy storage experts EC-OG and AUV specialist Modus in a project to look at using renewables for subsea power.
 
Pommec, a diving systems manufacturer and supplier, has delivered the eTWIN, a fully electrical driven twin basket diver Launch and Recovery System (LARS) to BC-opleidingen, a diving school in the Netherlands.

Global Diving and Salvage was rigging the Samantha J for recovery, more than four years after the 35-foot-long steel-hull tugboat had sank near Nanaimo, British Columbia. The tugboat had run into trouble while towing a woodchip barge, and though no one was hurt, the vessel was lost, sinking 230 feet below the surface.
