The first batch of 50 trainees came to India in July and was sponsored by M/s Sabens Nigeria Limited which is an accredited training partner of the Presidential Amnesty Office.

In the late 1970s contracts for diving work were awarded to diving contractors, who hired vessels that could support the activity. Divers judged a DP vessel by its ‘footprint’ (the movement that a clump weight made on the seabed) and the number of times they had an alert to stop the work or get back to the surface because there was a ‘run off’. In 1980 the first guidance document was produced with the DP operational requirements from a diving contractor’s perspective.

By far the largest purchase is one approved just two weeks ago — a $238,000 patrol boat for the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department. Steinhardt said the county was notified Aug. 25 that it received the competitive grant and hopes to have the custom-built craft in use by next spring.

Tehran - The operation to install the P-4 platform in Reshadat oil field as the largest oil rig in the Persian Gulf will be completed next week, the managing director of TASDID Offshore Development Company said. Amin Panahi described the dimensions of P-4 platform as 42 meters long and 43 meters wide platform with the height of 70 meters.

The industry body which represents the UK’s subsea sector has appointed a new chief executive. Neil Gordon will take over the reins at Subsea UK at the beginning of July 2011. Currently general manager of the National Hyperbaric Centre in Aberdeen, Mr Gordon has over 20 years’ management and business development experience, combined with over 10 years’ subsea experience.

Seadrill is currently evaluating the structure of the Company’s harsh environment activities which include the six drilling rigs contracted in the North Sea area.
In order to maximize the value of Seadrill’s harsh environment operations, and to create a basis for further strengthening of this segment, the Company is currently evaluating the existing ownership structure of these activities. One alternative that is under consideration is to organize this segment into a new public company where Seadrill will remain the majority shareholder.

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured a contract worth approximately US$380 million from Transocean Offshore Deepwater Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Transocean Ltd. (Transocean), to build two high-specification jackup rigs based on the KFELS Super B Class Bigfoot design. The rigs’ deliveries are scheduled from 2H 2012 onwards.

KBR has been selected by Chevron USA Inc. to execute the detailed design for the Chevron Big Foot Topsides project. The Big Foot field is located in the Walker Ridge Block 29 of the Gulf of Mexico and is owned by Chevron USA Inc. (operator) and other working interest owners. The proposed facility will be installed in approximately 5,200 feet of water approximately 225 miles from New Orleans and 35 miles south of Chevron’s producing Tahiti field.
