UPCOMING EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
This notice is being sent as a notification to all General Member Companies that are engaged in saturation diving operations that the requirement for having an emergency evacuation system (HRC or SPHL) went into effect on 19 July 2013. 

The requirements for Emergency Evacuation Systems can be found in Section 6.12.3 (Page 125) of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations (6th ed.). 

The requirement for an EES had been annotated by a superscript "3"–compliance required after 24 months from formal public release of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations (6th ed.)". The 24 month period ended on 19 July 2013. 

Additionally, all diving bells, submersible decompression Chambers, and closed bells had new compliance requirements that were also annotated with by a superscript "3"-compliance required after 24 months from formal public release of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations. 

The new requirements for diving bells, submersible decompression chambers, and closed bells can be found in Section 6.12.2.3 (Page 124) of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations (6th ed.). 

These new requirements went into effect on 19 July 2013.

Implementation of Certification and Equipment Requirements
All equipment requirements that were annotated with a superscript "3"-compliance after 24 months from formal public release of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations (6th ed.) will go into effect on 19 July 2013.
Requirements for Emergency Evacuation Systems can be found in Section 6.12.3 (Page 125).
Requirements for diving bells, submersible decompression chambers, and closed bells can be found in Section 6.12.2.3 (Page 124).

Interested in contributing to UnderWater magazine?
UnderWater magazine is seeking feature stories and photography covering subjects of broad significance to the commercial diving industry. Possible article topics include, but are not limited to: safety, new techniques, new equipment, equipment reviews, recent projects, etc. Special attention will be given to articles highlighting safety; however, all topics of general interest to diving contractors will be considered.  The 2014 ADCI Scholarship Fund Raffle will feature a KM 37 – Stainless Steel (SS) helmet, a state-of- the-art diving harness, and Miller weight belt.  The helmet was donated by Kirby Morgan, and will be signed by Bev Morgan at U.I. 2014.  The diving harness and weight belt was donated by Divers Supply, Inc.

Tickets for the raffle are $25.00 a piece, and can be purchased from the ADCI office and at U.I. 2014, prior to the last day of the show on 13 February 2014.

For those who are not familiar with the ADCI Scholarship Fund, the fund was set up to assist students with pursuing their higher educational or vocational goals with an award of $4000.00.  Eligibility requirements are provided with the formal announcement that goes out each year.  The Chairperson for the ADCI Scholarship Committee is Mrs. Dori Ritter of Dive Commercial International, Inc.

Any ADCI member company can sponsor a student for award consideration by the Scholarship Committee.   I challenge all ADCI member companies to provide a contribution to the fund.  No amount is too small.  It is our one chance to give back to the community to support our most valuable asset, today’s youth.

Odyssey Marine Exploration Inc., a deep-sea salvage company, said it retrieved more than 61 tons of silver bullion this month from a World War II shipwreck nearly three miles (4.8 kilometers) under the surface of the Atlantic Ocean.

Explorers have recovered Apollo 11 engines from the Atlantic Ocean floor.
First recovered in March, experts have now confirmed the rocket engines recovered from three miles below the ocean surface by Bezos Expeditions are Saturn V first stage F-1’s used by the rocket that put the first men on the moon.

The Federal Court has dismissed a request for a judicial review of the environmental approval process used to clear the way for the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project. The Sierra Club Canada, one of the groups that launched the challenge, said it will seek legal advice on what other steps it can take, but executive director John Bennett said it’s doubtful it will continue the battle in the courts.

Bibby Offshore has completed hyperbaric evacuation trials across its entire diving support vessel (DSV) fleet. The company claims it is the only company worldwide to have carried out this procedure on its entire fleet, which includes Bibby Sapphire, Polaris and Topaz, and the only diving contractor with audited outcomes using performance-based standards for this level of contingency planning.

Deepwater mooring specialist, First Subsea Ltd has been awarded a contract by Technip Inc to supply the subsea mooring connectors for a 23,000-ton truss spar platform moored in 5,310ft (1,620 m) of water in Anadarko Petroleum Corp's Heidelberg field development in Green Canyon Blocks 859, 860,903, 904 and 948 in the Gulf of Mexico.
