UPCOMING EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
This notice is being sent as a notification to all General Member Companies that are engaged in saturation diving operations that the requirement for having an emergency evacuation system (HRC or SPHL) went into effect on 19 July 2013. 

The requirements for Emergency Evacuation Systems can be found in Section 6.12.3 (Page 125) of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations (6th ed.). 

The requirement for an EES had been annotated by a superscript "3"–compliance required after 24 months from formal public release of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations (6th ed.)". The 24 month period ended on 19 July 2013. 

Additionally, all diving bells, submersible decompression Chambers, and closed bells had new compliance requirements that were also annotated with by a superscript "3"-compliance required after 24 months from formal public release of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations. 

The new requirements for diving bells, submersible decompression chambers, and closed bells can be found in Section 6.12.2.3 (Page 124) of the Consensus Standards for Commercial Diving and Underwater Operations (6th ed.). 

These new requirements went into effect on 19 July 2013.

UnderWater magazine is seeking feature stories and photography covering subjects of broad significance to the commercial diving industry.  The 2014 ADCI Scholarship Fund Raffle will feature a KM 37 – Stainless Steel (SS) helmet, a state-of- the-art diving harness, and Miller weight belt.  The helmet was donated by Kirby Morgan, and will be signed by Bev Morgan at U.I. 2014.  The diving harness and weight belt was donated by Divers Supply, Inc.

Tickets for the raffle are $25.00 a piece, and can be purchased from the ADCI office and at U.I. 2014, prior to the last day of the show on 13 February 2014.

For those who are not familiar with the ADCI Scholarship Fund, the fund was set up to assist students with pursuing their higher educational or vocational goals with an award of $4000.00.  Eligibility requirements are provided with the formal announcement that goes out each year.  The Chairperson for the ADCI Scholarship Committee is Mrs. Dori Ritter of Dive Commercial International, Inc.

Any ADCI member company can sponsor a student for award consideration by the Scholarship Committee.   I challenge all ADCI member companies to provide a contribution to the fund.  No amount is too small.  It is our one chance to give back to the community to support our most valuable asset, today’s youth.

Twenty-eight divers have completed a commercial diving course under a local Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council diving standard. They are the first divers to attain the standard, which qualifies them for all diving work within Singapore.

Bowditch serves as an oceanographic sampling and data collection of surface, mid-water and ocean floor parameters. When a significant storm event passes through an area, surveys of this nature are required to confirm bottom features and identify navigational hazards. She has been performing acoustical, biological, physical and geophysical surveys of the effected area since right after the Super Typhoon.

U.S. Navy divers, working with archaeologists for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retrieved a 64-square-foot section of the ironclad. The pieces are being moved as part of a preservation effort taking place in preparation for deepening of the city’s shipping channel.

The National Science Foundation's (NSF) research vessel (R/V) Sikuliaq will spend its first winter on the Great Lakes before making the long journey to its home port in Seward, Alaska. Sikuliaq, pronounced "see-KOO-lee-ack," is slated to arrive in Alaska during spring 2015.

U.S. Navy explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) experts needed unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) for ocean mine countermeasures, reconnaissance, and mapping. They found their solution from Hydroid Inc. in Pocasset, Mass. Officials of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division in Indian Head, Md., awarded a $36.3 million contract to Hydroid for UUVs that provide the military force with very shallow water and shallow water mine countermeasures as well as underwater object localization tools.

DOF Subsea Group has been awarded contracts worth a total value of US $800 million, including options, the company said in a press release.
DOF Subsea has, through its subsidiary DOF Subsea Chartering AS, entered into a time charter agreement with Technip for the newbuild VARD 800. The time charter contract starts when the vessel is delivered from the yard in June 2015 and has a period of five years firm with five one-year options, according to the release.

This award recognizes Aqueos Corporation for being the "Best in Class Performance" for 2013.
