Norway-based Reach Subsea has secured a contract with Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) for a marine mining project in the mid-Atlantic ridge north of Jan Mayen.
Financed by the Research Council of Norway (RCN), the MarMine project will deploy remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV), autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and grabs for seabed mapping and sampling for geological and biological research related to marine mining.

Subsea 7 S.A. today announced the award of an EPCI contract by Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL).The contract value is in excess of US $1.3billion. This contract will be jointly executed by Seaway Heavy Lifting and Subsea 7(1). An octopus laid claim to a cable coil as a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) was trying to do some work on the Ocean Networks Canada underwater observatory off the coast of Vancouver Island. The octopus can be seen fighting with the ROV named Hercules — the octopus tries to get in the way of it so it can`t undo a knot.
