An Update from our State Conference Planning Chair, 2014

This year, our statewide Florida ASLA conference will be held at the exclusive Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla. We on the conference planning committee are excited about our spectacular venue for this year ! Because Ocean Reef, or "The Reef" as the locals call it, is a private "members only" club, many will never get the opportunity to experience the beauty of this development that had humble beginnings as a fishing village in the 1940s, unless they register for and attend! Families and friends are welcome and will have plenty to do for fun and entertainment while on the property.
Our conference is going to be filled with lots of quality educational courses for CEC credits for Landscape Architects, Planners and Architects. We are planning several relaxed tours and activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, mangrove kayak tours, and a day of garden tours of private Ocean Reef gardens designed by Landscape Architects and Designers practicing in the area. There will be recreational opportunities for playing golf on the award winning golf courses, fine dining in many restaurants, shopping in the charming fishing village, or just relaxing beachside or poolside. We will learn and hear a few amazing key note speakers, but will have plenty of down time this year, so attendees have time and space to enjoy the unique atmosphere of this amazing venue.
Our expo is going to be given more prominence this year so that vendors can reach the estimated 500 attendees. We will have lovely cocktail receptions at the end of each day of learning and touring to reconnect and network. So now we are fishing for registrants, vendors, and sponsors!
