APA FL Great Places in Florida Award ProgramPrint this Article | Send to Colleague The Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA FL) is proud to announce the kickoff of the 2nd Annual Great Places in Florida award program! This initiative celebrates Great Places in Florida and the communities that sustain them. The APA FL Great Places in Florida award program focuses on unique, memorable places that work for the good of their community and attract people to visit them. It is an annual selection of places that represent the gold standard of having a true sense of place, cultural and historical interest, community involvement and a vision for tomorrow. Great Places winners contribute to the greater community’s social, economic, and environmental well-being for the long term. Any Neighborhoods, Downtowns, Streets, or Public Places with these attributes are eligible for submission. However, in order to make this program a success, we would like your help. As a community expert, your knowledge and experience would be invaluable to the selection process. As such, we kindly request you consider volunteering to serve on the Great Places in Florida Selection Committee. Time volunteered will be minimal, with most deliberations done online or over the phone, all while you gain the satisfaction of helping celebrate great planning in our state! The nomination period will end Sept. 18, and finalists will be announced Oct. 2.
