BoardofLandscape Architecture in Florida (BOLA)
is responsible for licensing and regulating landscape architects.
Individuals or companies that would like to offer continuing education courses
to licensed landscape architects need to become a provider and obtain board
approval (other requirements are listed on DepartmentofBusiness and
Professional Regulation’s website - DBPR). Once an approved provider,
they can then submit their course(s) for approval. Once approved, they
will receive a course number(s) and can then offer them to landscape
architects.
LA CES is an accrediting entity that approves providers and
courses for landscape architects. The BoardofLandscape Architecture
in Florida does not recognize LA CES at this time because LA CES is not a
provider with the state and therefore cannot submit credits to the Board (there
is no self-reporting).
ASLA is a provider with the state and will turn in all the
courses offered at the national meeting so that Florida license holders can
receive credit.
Many national conferences/seminars/webinars that are LA CES
approved are more than likely not a provider in Florida. If they do not
indicate it on their marketing material you need to ask!
FLASLA is a provider with the state and sees the
benefitofLA CES courses to Florida landscape architects.
FLASLA has been in conversation with BOLA regarding this and can use your
help! Please write to the board and let them know that you want to be
able to receive credit for LA CES courses that are being offered nationally.
